This summer, international businesses have faced not one global reform, but a series of practical regulatory changes that are gradually reshaping the approach to corporate compliance.
- Canada - CRA My Business Account
As of July 14, 2026, Business Registration Online (BRO) is available only through a CRA Account.
This applies to the registration of a Business Number (BN) and CRA program accounts, including GST/HST, payroll and corporation income tax.
And soon, communication with the tax authority may increasingly be handled through CRA My Business Account - it is only a matter of time.
- FATF- Jurisdictions under Increased Monitoring
In June 2026, FATF updated its list of Jurisdictions under Increased Monitoring.
Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iraq were added to the list, while Algeria and Namibia were removed. The status of a jurisdiction can directly affect KYC/AML procedures, banking relationships and PSP risk assessments.
- UK - A New Format for Accounts
As part of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023, Companies House is moving towards software-only filing.
From April 1, 2028, companies will be required to file their accounts using commercial software.
What should businesses do now? Companies and their owners should already:
• check whether they have a registered CRA My Business Account for communication with the Canadian tax authority;
• monitor changes to FATF jurisdiction risk and assess how they may affect banking and payment providers;
• review their current UK filing processes and prepare for the transition to new software-based filing requirements.
